Our Roots:
The basis of our organization.
healthXvisuals was created in 2020 at the University of Toronto St. George Campus by founder, Neeki Alvari. The goal of the organization was to advance the health literacy of the general public through attractive and simple infographics on an Instagram page.
Now, healthXvisuals has expanded beyond the Instagram page to this website, the blog and even a podcast all to help educate the general public on different health issues. As a group run mostly by life science majors, we aim to provide the most accurate information simplified from complicated resources.

healthXvisuals is a student-run organization at the University of Toronto. We aim to simplify biomedical communications through graphics, blogging and other forms of media. We believe that everyone has the right to scientific literacy and recognize that not everyone is as fortunate as we are to receive higher education. Therefore, we want to use our knowledge and expertise to help others understand medical issues the same way we do.

Our team is dedicated to creating easy to read infographics about common diseases and health issues. We aim to provide accurate information with no jargon so that the everyday person can learn about issues they may be concerned about.

I'm in my third year at St. George and I'm double majoring in Physiology and Pharmacology.
David Rubenstein
Vice-President
I'm currently a third year student at the St. George campus and I'm taking Chemistry, Biochemistry and Physiology. I have three dogs and two cats.
Rojan Shaeri
Vice-President
I'm a third year at St. George double majoring in physiology and pharmacology. I'm actually fully fluent in English and Farsi, and I know some French and Arabic too.
Michelle Nguyen

I'm in my third year at St. George, and I'm taking Human Biology specializing in Health and Disease. In my free time I like to practice photography, painting and baking.

I'm going into my third year at Scarborough and I study Neuroscience and Nutritional Science. I actually manage a discord server for investing.
Anessa Koussiouris

I'm in my second year at St. George and I'm doing a Kinesiology specialist. Despite being born and raised in Toronto, I have never actually been up to the CN Tower!
Roxy Memar

I'm a fourth year student at the St. George campus double majoring in Health and Disease and Cell and Molecular Biology and minoring in Immunology. I was actually raised in Dubai and moved to Canada a few years ago!
Theodora Tang
Head of Site
I'm in my third year at Scarborough majoring in Nutritional Science and Psychology. I did US style policy debate for 6 years which is responsible for my fast speaking pace nowadays!
Ananya Ananth
Head of Communications
I'm a third year student at Mississauga, and I'm majoring in Biology with minors in Psychology and Biomedical Communications. I love drawing and watching bad movies.
Beatrix Yu
Head of Graphic Design
I'm now a fourth year student at St. George, and my major is Immunology and Neuroscience while my minor is Psychology.
Campus Representatives:
Working under the Head of Communications, Ananya Ananth, our campus reps are our second line of contact after Ananya for student groups, faculty and students looking to work with healthXvisuals. These individuals are also in charge of spreading the word about healthXvisuals on their respective campuses!

Samantha Graham- UTSC
Second year student double majoring in Biochemistry and Physical Sciences and lover of horror movies.
Lead by our Head of Site, Theodora Tang, the Podcast and Blogging team aims to bring out more content related to our graphics. They do interviews and dive deeper into the diseases our graphics cover so that people who are interested can learn more.
Currently, our bloggers are Deeksha Kapur, Isra Khiyar, Sanchsuga Kanthavel, Saleha Ansari, and Daniyal Ahmed.

Lead by our Head of Graphic Design, Beatrix Yu, our graphic design team makes all of the graphics that you see on our Instagram and Webpage! They also decide on the topics and the thematic colours! Every one of our posts credits the author in the description. Our current graphic designers are all University of Toronto students. Please give all of our designers some love.
